What the global EV supply chain actually looks like, and where India fits

Too many supply-chain conversations collapse into slogans. Real strategy starts by understanding which layers are commoditised, which are IP-heavy, and where value actually accrues.
Where the leverage sits
In the EV stack, value is distributed unevenly across cells, motors, converters, firmware, control systems, and manufacturing process knowledge. India does not need to win every layer to win meaningfully.
“The strategic question is not whether India can participate. It is which layers are still available to be won.”
The near-term opportunity lies in building companies that combine product IP, manufacturing discipline, and the ability to serve both domestic and export demand.
